Helping NGOs do more with their money

We're moving to Humentum.org soon.

Meet the staff team

Tim Boyes-Watson, Executive Director

I joined Mango in January 2010, after working in the NGO sector for over 15 years including programme management and finance roles at VSO, Christian Aid and Save the Children. I play a leading role in promoting more dialogue within the sector and also with DFID about issues such as international financial standards, value for money, commercial contracting and cost recovery. I have helped develop partnerships with organisations like Christian Aid and the British Council to provide capacity building support to hundreds of NGOs that are receiving grants from multi-million donor-funded contracts in Ethiopia, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Sudan. I also enjoy providing consultancy advice to clients on financial strategy, value for money and grant/contract management.

Consultancy and Client Services team

Peter Sargent, Director of Consultancy & Client Services

I have lived and worked extensively in east and central Africa and Russia as a NGO finance specialist and freelance consultant. My particular interest is building the capacity of local NGO partners and improving grant and risk management strategies at all levels. I have worked with Mango as a trainer and consultant, running courses in French and English around the world and offering insights, tools and new approaches to issues.  I now work with a global network of specialists to help respond to NGOs' needs for finance expertise. Email Peter.

Andrew Chalinder, Consultancy and Projects Manager

A career in project and programme management with humanitarian and development INGOs has taught me much about financial management and the significance of accountability.  I have worked across east, central and southern Africa as well as south Asia.  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with partner NGOs building their capacity and confidence to take on and manage increasingly large grants.  It has been particularly rewarding seeing the difference that well managed funding can make to the lives of people living in poverty.  It’s great working with Mango and being part of a team that is helping organisations make the most of their funding. Email Andrew

Jo Baker, Trainer

My working life began at a Big 4 accountancy firm where as a trainee chartered accountant, I sought out charity audit clients. I joined the international NGO sector as Head of International Finance for British Red Cross where I developed my management accounting skills working on emergency and development programmes throughout the world. I worked across Africa, Asia and the Caribbean with partner organisations. I joined Mango strongly believing in the value of its work. I now specialise in developing courses for training partnerships with global NGOs and their affiliated local partners. Email Jo

Jo Edwards, In-house Training Manager

I joined Mango in 2016 as In-house Training Manager. After training as a teacher and then as a management accountant, I have worked in the NGO sector since 2000. My experience is in supporting staff and local partners with financial management and capacity building across Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. I am passionate about helping organisations to find solutions to the challenges faced in today’s funding environment where strong financial management and accountability are essential. I enjoy training and helping people appreciate that finance is not something to be afraid of. Email Jo.

Juliette Doddo Siddo, Client Services Coordinator

I am responsible for coordinating the In-house training programme. I particularly enjoy liaising with clients from all around the world and being involved throughout the training process - from the first enquiry and training needs analysis to event logistics and post-training reports. With a genuine interest in the development sector I am glad to be able to apply my French language skills and competencies to the NGO sector.  In my spare time, I am involved with charitable work in Niger. Email Juliette

Sarah Peyton Jones, Client Services Coordinator

I joined Mango in 2016 after graduating from Oxford with a degree in German and Spanish. Having taught for educational projects in Peru, Guatemala and Paraguay, I am excited to be able to contribute to the impact of NGOs in a different way by working with the Client Services Team. I primarily support the In-House training, Consultancy and Capacity Building programmes.

Stella Hobbs, Recruitment Manager

I joined Mango in 2009, with a background in recruitment for international development. My experience includes sourcing candidates and guiding UK and in-country selection processes for assignments with local organisations in Latin America, West Africa and the occupied Palestinian territories. I'm particularly interested in translating good practice principles into useable tools, and at Mango have developed our register competency framework and assessment approach. Email Stella

Jackie Meek, Recruitment Advisor

I have been working in HR & finance roles in the INGO sector since 1999, joining Mango in 2005. I love having the opportunity to engage with interesting and passionate finance professionals, motivated to making a difference where ever in the world they are. In one week I might be conducting a Skype interview with a finance specialist in a rural corrugated roofed hut in Niger, and another in a buzzing internet cafe in India!  Matching the right people to good finance jobs and then working with them to develop their careers are the best parts of my job.

Saskia Hoskins, Recruitment Assistant

I was delighted to join Mango in 2016 as it is my first role in an NGO! I have an MSc in Development Studies and I'm currently doing an MPhil in Latin American Studies. I mainly aid Jackie and Stella in the day-to-day business of the Recruitment Team. I've really enjoyed interviewing register members about their experiences on placement; there's so much to learn from our members who have such great knowledge and experience of the NGO sector. Email Saskia.

Open Learning and Publications Team

Terry Lewis, Director of Learning and Development

I am proud to have led Mango's training team since 2001, working together to develop our unique training approach and practical training courses.  Starting out as a university lecturer, I have always loved training and helping people to learn using participatory techniques. During my early career as Director of a small UK charity, I discovered (the hard way) just how much financial management helps us to achieve programme objectives. Since then I have dedicated my working life to making finance accessible and practical, including working as an internal auditor/trainer and with Skillshare International with NGOs in Swaziland. I have an MSc in Development Management. I passionately believe that financial management is for everyone. Email Terry

Helen I'Anson, Learning and Development Manager

I’m passionate about helping others to build their confidence and skills in finance and operational management so they can deliver effective programmes wherever they are working. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in the UK I have spent over 20 years working in the development sector, in both field and head office roles across Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe. I joined the Mango register in 2004 and have actively used the fabulous Mango tools and training approaches in all my different jobs, so I was thrilled to join the Mango staff team in 2015. As Mango’s Learning and Development Manager, I focus on ensuring quality and promoting a culture of continual learning across our Mango services.
