Mango Training - Frequently Asked Questions

This page should answer many questions that you will have about Mango Training. Please contact the Training Team on training@mango.org.uk for any other questions.

Must I have a background in finance to attend a Mango course?

Mango's training courses are designed for all NGO staff and board members. Certain courses are designed specifically for finance staff, others for programme staff, so entry requirements depend on the course you are interested in. Please refer to the individual course outlines which describe who should attend and the topics covered.

Do you provide training outside of the United Kingdom?

Yes! We deliver our training courses in regional centres all around the world. Check out our latest calendar of training events to find out when we are coming to a centre near you!

Does Mango provide training on subjects wider than financial management, such as fundraising or proposal writing?

No. Mango’s mission is to improve financial management in NGOs so we do not provide training in other areas of management. We may be able to refer you to other training organisations, however.

How do I book for a course?

You can now book any Mango courses with the online booking tool.  Alternatively, simply fill out and email the course booking form to training@mango.org.uk. If you would like to enquire about the availability of places on a specific course, you can send an email to the same address or use the online query form. We are happy to hold a provisional booking for 2 weeks, providing the course is not over-subscribed.

What does it cost to attend a course and what does the course fee cover?

For course fees please click here

For all courses (except the FM5 which is a residential course) the course fee covers:

  • Professional tuition
  • Lunch and refreshments
  • Certificate
  • Course Handbook and handouts
  • Mango calculator and pen
  • Email follow-up support

The fee does not cover the cost of accommodation, meals other than lunch or travel costs. For details of accommodation near or at the training venue please contact training@mango.org.uk.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes, you will receive a Mango training certificate at the end of the course, provided you attend the full programme and your course fees have been paid in full.

How do I make a payment to Mango?

An invoice will be sent to you by email shortly after we confirm your booking. Payment may be made using the following methods:

  • cheque drawn on a UK bank account;
  • international money order; or
  • bank transfer.

Payments originating outside the UK should include bank transfer fees for BOTH ends of the transaction. Mango’s bank details will be shown on your invoice.

Please click here for full details on how to make payments.

Will I lose my money if I cancel my booking?

Places on Mango’s courses are limited and we often have waiting lists. Cancellation charges are applied in all cases. We regret that we have to do this, however all bookings involve administrative costs and it is difficult to fill spaces made vacant by late cancellations. Cancellation charges depend on when the written cancellation notice is received:

  • If cancelled 6 or more weeks before a course is due to start, 90% of course fees will be refunded or credited to another course
  • If cancelled 2 to 6 weeks before a course is due to start, 50% of course fees will be refunded or credited to another course.
  • No refund will be made for bookings cancelled less than two weeks before the event or for ‘no shows’, however, if we manage to find a late replacement, we will try to flexible on this.

Will Mango arrange overnight accommodation at the training venue for me?

Most of Mango’s courses are designated as non-residential. However, we will forward you details of accommodation available at or near the training venue on request, so that you can communicate directly about your accommodation needs. Email training@mango.org.uk for information.

For residential courses, all accommodation arrangements will be made on your behalf.

Will Mango help me obtain an entry visa if I need one?

If you need a letter to support your application for an entry visa to visit the country where the training takes place, Mango will prepare a letter as soon as course fees have been paid in full.

If a visa letter is required, the following information must be supplied to Mango no later than 28 days before the start of the training:

  • Full name of participant as it appears on passport
  • Passport number
  • Date of birth
  • Full postal address of the Embassy, High Commission or Consular Office to which the visa letter must be addressed.
  • Details of where the visa letter from Mango should be sent – including email and fax contact details.

Please click here to view Mango’s policy on support for entry visas.
