Training
Taking the fear out of finance
Mango provides award-winning practical financial management training for NGO staff and board members in NGOs and other non-profit organisations.
Our courses are carefully designed to meet the real needs of staff working in the field and behind the scenes at head office. We achieve this by making sure that our courses:
- are relevant to the day-to-day issues faced by NGO staff
- make technical issues easy to digest and understand
- build participants' confidence as well as their technical skills.
We deliver our training throughout the year all around the world. See the course calendar for an up to date schedule of dates and venues.

Mango is accredited by the
British Accreditation Council
Our courses
Our courses range from one to ten days in length and are delivered in regional centres around the world and in the UK. Courses are delivered in English with certain core courses also delivered in French.
Each course is designed to meet the needs of different groups of NGO staff - some for financial staff, some for managers. If you want to know which course is for you, check the guide to course suitability.
We also provide in-house training and work with other organisations to develop training partnerships to share our expertise and materials.
Mango's trainers
All Mango's trainers have practical experience of financial management in the field. They can relate directly to the issues that participants raise. They also have professional experience in training and regularly adapt and review Mango's courses in line with participants' suggestions.
Our training approach
Many NGO staff are apprehensive about financial matters. People often lack the confidence to get to grips with financial management as part of their day-to-day work. Some also find the technical language of accountancy intimidating and inaccessible.
Mango's response is to create a supportive and participative learning environment which:
- provides training which is personal, practical and participatory
- encourages participants to share experiences and challenges
- provides an opportunity to practice tools and techniques for use in the workplace
- uses plain language to explain financial jargon.
We limit the size of our training groups. This allows us to adapt the content of each course to the needs of each group and address the specific concerns of individual participants.
This approach means that course participants quickly gain confidence and skills that help them to do their jobs more efficiently and effectively.
