At Head Office

Many international NGOs have head offices in Europe that support their field work. Finance staff work in head offices in a broad range of roles, from Finance Director to Finance Controller to Finance Officer, supporting field based operations.  Head office roles are generally permanent or long-term,.  We also help NGOs with providing interim cover.

The people we place in NGO head office positions are all members of Mango's register.  Before you consider applying to join our register, please spend a few moments assessing your suitability for this kind of work. 

The following checklist will help you to think through whether you are able to contribute your skills and experience with NGOs in their head offices.  Please note that this is only a rough guide and provides no guarantee of whether your application will be successful. 

Do you have an internationally recognised accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACMA, CPFA or ACA)?
Do you have at least 3 years financial management or accounting experience?
Do you have international experience in developing countries?
Do you have not for profit experience, preferably in a financial management role?
Do you understand what aid agencies do and how they work?
Are you committed to humanitarian principles and share NGOs core values? Do you know about the British Red Cross code of conduct?
Do you have good IT skills in Excel, Word and small accounting packages?
Are you willing to work for a relatively modest salary?
Are you motivated to achieve high standards and able to balance different stakeholders interests?
Are you able to work effectively in a team, respecting people from diverse backgrounds?
