In the Field

NGOs recruit experienced and qualified finance staff to work in the field - either to run/oversee systems themselves, or to work with a local counterpart. These crucial roles help ensure funds are spent effectively and accounted for properly. Field based positions may be in capital cities, regional centres or remote rural locations. On average we are working on 10-20 field vacancies at any one time.

Assess your suitability

The people we place in NGO field positions are all members of Mango's register. Before you consider applying to join our register, please spend a few moments assessing your suitability for this kind of work.

The following checklist will help you think through whether you are in a position to work with NGOs in the field. Please note that this is only a rough guide and provides no guarantee of whether your application will be successful.

	Do you have an internationally recognised accounting qualification? (e.g. ACMA, ACA, ACCA)
	Do you have at least 2 years financial management or accounting experience?
	Do you have international experience, either through work or personal travel?
	Do you understand what relief & development NGOs do and how they work?
	Are you willing and able to live and work in new and challenging environments?
	If you have not worked with a relief & development NGO before, are you prepared to undertake a field assignment of a minimum period of six months?
	Are you willing to work for a modest salary?
	Are you willing to take on significant responsibility for staff and projects?
	Are you committed to humanitarian principles and share NGOs core values? Do you know about the Red Cross Code of Conduct?
