UK-based INGOs (OSSIG)

Mango chairs a UK networking group called "OSSIG". The name stands for "Overseas Special Interest Group". It is a branch of the Charity Finance Group.

OSSIG meets three or four times a year in London and runs an email discussion group.

OSSIG runs a lively email discussion group for approximately 200 NGO finance professionals.  It is open to any NGO staff involved in the financial mangement of international operations.  Throughout the year, they ask questions and receive answers on subjects like:

  • Protocols on working with new overseas partners
  • EC audit guidelines
  • Briefings on the UK Bribery Act
  • Cash transfers to Southern Sudan
  • Foreign exchange

A record of these discussions is held on google.  Please contact Margaret Waterfield if you would like to join the discussion group.

The meetings are open to members of CFDG who have an interest in the financial management of international operations.  Those who are not members can be invited by those who are.  They are regularly attended by 20 - 50 people, from a wide range of large and small NGOs. Meetings include presentations from expert speakers and focused discussion groups.

The next meeting is:

11 July 2013: DfID

This meeting is from 3.00pm - 6.30pm in central London, and will involve the launch of OSSIG's LinkedIn discussion forum.  Contact Margaret Waterfield for more information.

Please let us know if you have any other suggestions for meeting topics.
