Happy New Year and welcome to the Mango blog. This is a place where you can find out what’s been going on and what coming up.

So what difference did Mango Recruitment make last year?

• 50 members found new NGO jobs in the UK, Europe, Africa, Asia and Middle East
• 25 different NGOs found the senior finance staff they needed

Responsiveness: We developed and build a new system for integrating all our internal processes which means streamlined searches, greater responsiveness, reducing time spent between people applying and being interviewed. Good news for anyone thinking of joining Mango this year!

Impact: we made a video introducing you to 3 members  who talk about the difference that Mango has made to them. They tell us about the systems and practices they’ve improved, the teams they work with on the ground in Haiti and Kenya , and the relationship between good financial management and better programming. To celebrate the impact our members can have,  we have launched a ‘Mango Impact Award’ this year. The winner of this award will be announced next week …..watch this space!

What’s on the recruitment cards for 2012?

• Continue to build our register of fantastic finance staff
• identify and work with Mango Champions around the work to ensure reliable high quality interviews and improve access for all
• Build new networks of contacts across the NGO finance community via Twitter and Linked in, for peer support and knowledge sharing
• Introduce coaching and mentoring opportunities for members looking to change gear in their career, tackle a personal or professional challenge, get some advice on a specific issue.

We believe we do things differently here. We have a deep commitment to NGO work and this influences what we do and how we do it.  Next year we’ll continue to work hard to provide NGOs and our members with highly valued, practical support that answers real needs. I hope we can help make the journey both interesting and fun.
